Dr. Smyth brings over 30 years of distinguished leadership in anesthesiology to Singular Anesthesia Services, where he has served as Attending Anesthesiologist at NYP Westchester Hospital since 2015. His exceptional career combines clinical excellence, academic leadership, and extensive healthcare administration experience.

Dr. Smyth has maintained strong ties to academic medicine throughout his career, previously serving as Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at Columbia University Medical Center through January 2024. He earned his Medical Degree from Baylor College of Medicine and completed his anesthesiology residency at the prestigious New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center, followed by specialized fellowship training in Pain Management.

 

Dr. Smyth’s leadership impact at NYP Westchester has been transformative, serving as President of the Medical Staff from 2016-2020 and Vice President from 2014-2015. His administrative expertise includes roles as Associate Director of Anesthesiology for a decade and President of Westchester Anesthesiologists. Earlier in his career, he served as Director of Anesthesiology at New York Downtown Hospital, demonstrating his longstanding commitment to healthcare leadership.

 

Board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology with added qualifications in Pain Management, Dr. Smyth has pursued continuous professional development, earning the European Diploma in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management and multiple advanced certifications in ultrasound-guided procedures. His commitment to cutting-edge techniques is evidenced by his ongoing pursuit of point-of-care ultrasound certification. He achieved the American Society of Anesthesiology certificate in Point of Care Ultrasound, or POCUS. He helped pioneer enhanced recovery protocols and ambulatory total joint protocols in Westchester county.

 

Active in professional organizations including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Regional Anesthesia & Pain Medicine, and European Society of Regional Anesthesia, Dr. Smyth continues to advance the field while providing exceptional patient care and mentoring the next generation of anesthesiologists.
